Fred Dorr holds a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree from the University of Puget Sound. As a Signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and a regular member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, Fred Dorr exhibited watercolor and acrylic paintings in regional and national competitions from 1980 through 1988 while living in North Carolina and Georgia. These included National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, Midwest Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Audubon Artists, Southern Watercolor Society, Watercolor Oklahoma, and Georgia Watercolor Society. 
A change in jobs in 1987 required extensive travel and made competitive activities impossible until finally retiring in 2003, when Fred Dorr returned to painting and resumed displaying and selling. His latest national exhibition is the Southern Appalachian Arts Guild in 2008. Fred lives in Big Canoe, GA with his wife Sally.
