Kathy Garrison is originally from Canton, Georgia and in 2004 came back to her hometown to live. She began painting soon after graduating high school, and has continued this passion for over 35 years. While primarily self-taught, she has studied with several Georgia artists as well as exploring the methods used by many nationally known artists. Over the years, Ms. Garrison has developed her landscape style into one that captures a sense of tranquility. She desires the observer of her paintings to feel as though they could step into the painting and feel the sun on their face, just as she did at the moment of inspiration. Kathy Garrison endeavors to express her wonder of God’s creation by the use of vibrant colors of light and shadow found in nature and has accomplished this in oil, watercolor and mixed media. The application of rich, vivid color and utilization of strong contrast of light and shadow in her still life paintings brings them to life on the canvas; and her use of vintage items and nostalgic themes will, she hopes, bring a smile to your face.
