Melinda Crider’s lifelong calling started when, through the encouragement of her art teacher, she won the Alabama State Art Competition for her age group while in the second grade. Since then she has studied and produced art in many different mediums - including clay, sculpture and on the wheel, oils, mixed media, video and SX-70 Polaroid. Melinda Crider studied at the Atlanta College of Art and completed the Pottery Assistantship at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Her work revolves around the mystery of the human psyche, its many aspects and variations. “I attempt to share an experience or idea with the viewer by engaging them with a visual narrative that might jog their memory and bond me with the viewer.” Melinda Crider
